The announcement comes as part of a two-phased plan to develop technology that allows rapid deployment of applications across the Internet, and successful completion of major projects for Fortune 500 companies. ExtranetWorks Corporation is formed by parent company ONTOP Systems CEO, Gregory Gubrud. Both companies are based in Portland, Oregon. "ExtranetWorks comes out of a demand from our customers to develop applications that run on the Internet and across corporate Intranets," says Gubrud. Gubrud is a veteran in the software industry, starting ONTOP systems in 1988, and building a large user following, particularly in the satellite reseller market. After completion of several major projects for large corporations Gubrud realized that the application server technology his firm developed is in huge demand. "The implications for these organizations are big. Applications deployed to remote offices and workers, and business partners across the Internet make sense. Our server software lets these companies deploy solutions in a fraction of the time and cost of traditional applications because the user accesses them with their web browser," according to Gubrud. Gubrud says that everything came together with the availability two new senior managers of ExtranetWorks: Michael Grigsby, President, and Thomas Misley, Director of Development. "Mike brings a wealth of experience in real-world application use, from his former work at Timberline Software, and more recently, distributed transactional workflow experience as Vice President of Marketing at Tactica Corporation and Versify Software," says Gubrud. "Tom has a wealth of experience in Internet development, implementation strategies, and Internet training systems." Gubrud says that projects they’ve been working on are highly strategic to these Fortune 500 companies and he hopes to be able to talk about them in the near future.
